To all Animal Services volunteers:
We greatly appreciate your volunteering to help the animals at City of Sugar Land's Animal Shelter.
Over the last few weeks, we've had several volunteers who have been
"no shows" for scheduled volunteer shifts.
The animals and the staff depend on our volunteers to help on a daily basis. If you do not arrive for your shift as scheduled it impacts the care we can provide for the animals.
While we realize calendar changes happen as do emergencies, we ask that you please cancel your shift on line as soon as you know you are no longer able to keep your commitment. That way someone else can take your shift to help the animals.
We also ask that you not sign up too far in advance if your schedule tends to change often. This will ensure you are able to make the shifts you sign up for.
Please also note that excessive no shows or excessively showing up more than 5 minutes late for your shift will result in a revocation of your volunteer status at the Sugar Land Animal Shelter at staff's discretion, per the Animal Services Agreement you all signed during your orientation process. However, you will still be able to volunteer for other departments. Additionally, if volunteers consistently ignore or fail to implement staff direction, your volunteer status may be revoked at staff's discretion in order to protect the safety and welfare of our animals, as well as other volunteers and staff.
To cancel your volunteer shift online, you must do so more than 24 hours prior to your shift. Login to your volunteer account, select "My Info," and then select "My Calendar." If you are cancelling 24 hours or less prior to your shift, you are required to call the Sugar Land Animal Shelter Directly at 281-275-2364.
